Seibu Railway provides convenient links for tourists visiting Kawagoe, a city that retains historic townscapes dating back to the Edo Period (1603–1868). Shin-Yokohama Station is 15 minutes from Tokyo's Shinagawa Station on the Tokaido Shinkansen bullet train. Near the station are the Yokohama Arena, a venue for concerts and other events, and Nissan Stadium, which hosts international soccer matches. Also nearby is the Shin-Yokohama Raumen Museum, which is said to have pioneered the concept of a gastronomic theme park. A short journey from here, visitors can stroll through Yamashita Park and explore the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Chinatown and the other downtown locations.
